Michael D’hulst, Super League Triathalon CEO said, “When we think of our series we are always looking at destinations that are visually appealing to our global TV broadcast and give a back-drop that is truly unique and memorable . It was no surprise that Grand Harbour Marina in Malta was at the top of our list. It is a truly unique and very beautiful destination indeed. Our broadcast went out to 850 million households world wide and all the feedback was extremely positive.”

During the weekend-long event, part of the marina was converted into a running track, with superyacht crew and owners having prime viewing positions from the yachts as the races took part in and around the super yacht pontoons.

The international race event took place over the course of three days, with a swim-bike-run sequence of races. However, this was an interactive event with local enthusiasts, boat owners, and competitive yacht crew being able to take part in an Aquathlon and Fun Run.

As a marina, we hope to keep this collaboration going as it promotes a healthy active lifestyle as well as inspiration for young local athletes to succeed in sport at an international level.

Alistair Brownlee is a two-time Olympic gold medallist while Jonathan is a seven time International Triathlon Union champion. Crew were lucky enough to be personally invited to enter the VIP area of the event to be able to interact with athletes and organisers of themselves.

Michael D’hulst continues, “Visitors where really impressed with the beauty of the Grand Harbour as our chosen location and the quality of the marina. Personally, I really enjoyed working with the team down at Grand Harbour Marina and our athletes said that the swim was one of the most impressive swim they have done, with a stunning backdrop of Superyachts as their view.”
