Eco-Ethos at Grand Harbour Marina, Malta

Continuing the ‘eco-ethos’, Camper & Nicholsons Grand Harbour Marina in Malta hosted another Marina Clean Up, with the aim to improve environmental awareness amongst the marina team but most of all the yachting community and visitors to the marina.

The ‘Clean Up Campaigns’ at Grand Harbour Marina are organised throughout the year, as part of the environmental programme. The programme aims to encourage Boat Owners, Captain, Crew and visitors to the marina to be more eco-conscious.

Emma Cassar, Events & Marketing Manager comments, “This latest clean up event was by far our most successful. We were blown away by the turnout especially by the local community who were ecstatic to see our dedication to bettering the waterfront and creating awareness to the cause.”

A complimentary yoga class was offered to all volunteers before the clean up to set the team up in the right frame of mind for the day and a water station was set up to keep everyone hydrated by refilling sustainable water bottles. Lunch was also provided after the clean up as a way of thanking everyone for their participation.

Local yacht provisioners such as Bradbury and Salvo Grima Yacht Supplies partnered with the event providing coffees to the group, gloves, sunblock and reusable coffee cups. The Birgu Local Council was more than happy to help by donating grey and black garbage bags and collecting all separated waste at the end of the day.

Emma Cassar continues, “We regard environmental considerations as a fundamental and integral part of our marina philosophy and encourage not only our employees but also our patrons to address their environmental responsibilities within their day to day activities.”
