Grand Harbour with Studio 15 host the Movember Charity Brunch Run

The first edition of the Movember Charity Brunch Run took place last week in honour of Mens Health and cancer awareness with all proceeds going to Hospice Malta, a non-profit organisation providing care and assistance to patients in palliative care and their families.

The event was co-sponsored by Grand Harbour Marina and Studio 15 Gym with one goal in mind - to raise 5000eur by way of a 5KM Run around the Grand Harbour Marina.

Emma Cassar, Events & Marketing Manager at Grand Harbour Marina comments:

“The response was overwhelming! We are blown away by the number of participants who took part in the race, as well as those who showed up on the day, some even ex yacht crew who flew in for the event to show their support. Our aim was to spread mens health awareness and show our support towards Hospice Malta and are pleased to announce we exceeded our goal, raising over 5300 EURO in total.”

Philip Zammit, Volunteer Coordinator at Hospice who was present on the day comments:

“The best part of my role is the ability for me to empower others to give back and do good by any means possible whether through active volunteering or through events to raise funds. Events such as this, help us to sustain the many services we provide to all the families that reach out for help. It was truly well organised, and well attended bringing people from all walks of life together for a great cause which ended up raising an astonishing sum! We cannot thank Emma, Ben and Matthew enough for such a great event. We hope and look forward to supporting them once again next year, to empower others to get involved and give back.”

It was also fantastic to see the support from the local community with stands set up across the event offering complimentary food and drinks to all attendees. Such companies include local yacht provisioners Bradbury, Salvo Grimo & No12 Wines offering brunch items and fresh fruit, other establishments from the marina such as Chill Café, Cargo & 50 Bistro who offered coffees and cakes as well as entertainment & energy drinks provided by RedBull. Hampers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place where provided by Charles Grech.

Matthew Towns, event organiser states:

“We did not factor in the amount of enjoyment we would experience when doing this, and this was down to the participation of all the runners, volunteers and sponsors on the day. It was a truly humbling experience and something we look forward to doing again next year.”
