Mediterr Année Project hosted by Cesme Marina

Today, Huw Kingston will have circumnavigated the Mediterranean in an incredible journey, sea kayaking, trekking, rowing and mountain biking across 20 countries over 15,000 km.

All taking place in the year between Anzac Day 2014 and 2015, the Mediterr Année Project aims to create awareness and raise much-needed funds for Save the Children, to help fight for the rights of children caught up in conflict zones across the world.

Dimitris Kokkoris and Marin Medek contributed to Mediterr Année, by rowing the 450 nautical miles in their ocean rowing boat “Mr. Hops”. Beginning their voyage in Hamadah Port in Tunisia, their goal was Cesme Marina in Turkey. Along their 450 nautical-mile journey, they rowed all the way across to Malta, to Greece, Monemvasia in the Peleponese, finally reaching their destination – Cesme Marina – who hosted them and “Mr. Hopps” before beginning the journey to England via container.

Raising over AU$75,000 so far, the Mediterr Année project hopes to help save and protect childrens’ lives, striving to give every child a safe and happy childhood.
