Emma Cassar, Marketing & Events Manager at Grand Harbour Marina comments:

“We are dedicating this event to my father, who lost his life earlier this year to pancreatic cancer. Together with both Ben and Matthew we decided to organise an event with the aim of achieving two goals – The first is to create cancer awareness among males and encourage others to speak more openly about it and the second is to help support the work of such organisations like Hospice Malta who were present from the very first moments my family and I found out right till the very end. They helped us both mentally and emotionally to deal with what would turn out to be the hardest time of our lives, and for that we will be forever grateful.”

The run is set to kick off at 9:30am with registration open from 8:45am at the base of Fort St.Angelo, round the marina waterfront up to Gardjola Gardens and back. The race will then be followed by a light brunch and refreshments, live music and prize giving.

Matthew Towns comments, “In May 2016, my life changed drastically when I was diagnosed with testicular cancer at a point in my life when I felt the most fit and healthy. As a professional footballer, coach and PT I was highly active until I began to notice my energy declining. When first finding out, I had to battle with both physical and mental issues when being faced with all the ‘worst case scenarios’, but pushed myself and was back playing professional football 10 weeks after surgery. Through such events as this, I hope to change the face of Mens Health especially in the early detection of Cancers.”

Participants of the run are asked to contribute by way of donation on registry, however this event is open to anyone who wishes to support the cause either by clicking ‘buy tickets’ on this event page which will take you to the GoGetFunding Page https://gogetfunding.com/movember-brunch-run/ or, by turning up on the day.

Ben Diacono, owner of StudioFifteen comments “It has always been a great wish of mine to create an event with the sole aim of giving back and helping those who may find themselves in a tough situation.I hope that this will be the first of many more events to come which aids in supporting Mens Health and promotes the works of such fantastic organisations such as Hospice Malta.”

To be apart of the event, be sure to donate any amount big or small. Click here.
