Grand Harbour Marina supports the #istayonboard Movement

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter from Malta!

The team at Camper & Nicholsons Grand Harbour Marina in Malta wished to show their love and support to all the crew choosing to respect the wishes of the health & safety authorities and stay onboard to reduce the curve and respect their fellow yachtsman.

Emma Cassar, Events & Marketing at Grand Harbour Marina comments:

“With Easter approaching we would usually celebrate with one of our infamous crew socials, however this year, with the situation being what it is, we have had to come up with a way to still spread the Easter Spirit and show our love to the crew, who we miss interacting with on a regular basis.”

Dressed in the appropriate safety wear, the team headed down the dock, dropping off all kinds of Easter treats to the crew, keeping an appropriate distance and spending some time chatting with each and every boat seeing how things where getting on and making sure the crew where as comfortable as possible given the circumstances.

Gordon Vassallo, Marina Manager comments:

“We are very proud of all the crew, this is not an easy situation, especially since they are used to numerous weekly activities from our end, such as yoga, football and mid-week socials, so this was our way to show our gratitude towards them and at the same time touch base with everyone and let them know we are thinking of them.”

Since regulations where put in place forbidding social interaction of more than 3 persons at a time, the marina have had to come up with innovative ways to keep crew entertained and boost crew morale. This has been achieved via a virtual crew programme offering numerous activities such as yoga classes, personal training, sailing regattas and educational programmes all accessible through a whatsapp group with all the crew. This has also turned into a fantastic way for crew to interact with each other across the marina shortening the social gap and making us feel even more like a yachting community more so than ever.

Emma Cassar, continues:

“As a marina we continue to show our support to all our clients amid this otherwise confusing time, keeping a positive mindset on the docks. Alone we can do so little, together we will achieve so much. “

Happy Easter from all at Camper & Nicholsons Grand Harbour Marina!
